Central City secures former Dix BBQ & Brewery site

More great beer options in the city, can’t complain!

Dix BBQ & Brewery closed in May 2010. Central City Brewers + Distillers will open a brewpub in the space in late May, five years later.

Pucker up, Vancouver.

Central City Brewers + Distillers is moving to a familiar address — and sour beers will flow.

As previously reported here, the award-winning Surrey brewery is opening a brewpub in downtown Vancouver.

Central City has secured 871 Beatty St. — former home of the much-missed Dix BBQ & Brewery — where a variety of sour beers will be brewed under brewmaster Gary Lohin.

The room will centre around an enormous foudre, used to house fermenting sours.

Behind the bar, 40 draft taps will pour 20 Central City creations and 20 taps from other local craft breweries. Cocktails — using Central City’s Seraph line of gin, vodka and (eventually) whisky — will also be on the menu.

Expect a late May opening.
