BEERS OF THE YEAR

The Beers of the year are mix of untappd reference, memory, and personal bias; enjoy with a grain of salt.

THE BEST BEER I HAD THIS YEAR!

A friend and i cellared a Parallel 49 “From East Van With Love”  and it was great, too bad they don’t sell them already cellared.

Bonus not from BC beer, Aprodisiaque from Brassiere Dieu du Ciel, now available in BC (from what i can tell).

Best Bargain Beer:

Bowen Island Snug Cove ESB. This is arguably craft, but in my opinion is one of the best ESB’s going period, and for 8-9 bucks a six pack, an easy choice.

Best IPA:

Yellow Dog IPA see the article for more info

Best Pale Ale:

Brassneck Ale

As Pale Ale is my favourite style here are some honourable mentions: Powell St. Ode to Citra, Driftwood New Growth Pale Ale, also check out The Burnside Brewing Oatmeal Pale Ale!

Best Stout:

(From East Van With Love was a 2013 beer)

Moody Ales Lusty Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, nice to see a big stout as a staple beer rather than a seasonal.

Saison:

Brassneck Barn Burner, this beer is good.

White/Hefe/Wit (The Herve Category)

Yellow Dog Take a Walk Wit, this brewery just kills!

Belgian:

Tie Between Dageraad Blonde, Dageraad Wet hopped Blonde

Wooden Spoon:

Budweiser Crown, stop producing this.

Great Beers, and Great Beers without a category because I didn’t drink enough of that Style :

Main Street Pilsner

Four Winds Phaedra Rye & Wheat IPA

Brassneck Inertia

Phillips Kaleidoscope Mosaic IPA

Yellow Dog Shake a Paw Smoked Porter

Parallel 49 Toques of Hazzard

Hermannator Ice Bock
